What is Sachamanda?

Sachamanda is a communication channel that supports amaZOOnico’s projects in the Ecuadorian rainforest. The channel is used to share and network information about protecting the rainforest, empowering local communities, and protecting Amazonian wildlife and their habitats.

What is Sachamanda?

Hola! As you may have noticed, the SelvaViva website is offline. After many wonderful years, we’ve decided it’s time for a new look.

Welcome to SachaManda, the communication channel for all projects related to amaZOOnico. Here you will find all the information about the animal rescue centre, the Padrinos support association and other exciting projects in Ecuador. Have fun exploring.

Understand!

What would a forest be without animals? Pretty lonely… Unfortunately, many wild animals still suffer a sad fate. Caught as young animals, they endure a life in captivity. But there is a way out. The animal rescue centre amaZOOnico helps animals from captivity back into the wild. Thanks to the energetic help of dedicated volunteers and generous donations, countless animals have already been released into the wild under the protection of the project. There they can enjoy a carefree and protected life in freedom. You too can help us with a donation or your labour on site.

Enrich!

If you want to protect the forest, you must first protect its inhabitants. Buying forest land alone is not enough to create a sustainable protected forest. Above all, the people on the ground are crucial to the sustainable success of a conservation project. Selva Viva has therefore focussed on the local Kichwa population from the very beginning. In order to offer alternatives to deforestation, jobs have been created in tourism and environmental protection. A school has been built for the children to impart valuable knowledge.

Protect!

3 football pitches per minute! That’s how fast the Amazon rainforest in South America is shrinking every day. FCP Selva Viva is the partnerproject of amaZOOnico and Liana Lodge. It has been able to save over 1700 hectares of primary forest from this fate since 1993 and has created a sustainably protected habitat for animals and inhabitants.
